Sea Changes in Our Relationship Structures

Perceptions of the Love Organizations are not static – rather they vary
by the times. For example, during some periods it was considered
‘normal’ by both husbands and wives – that it was ‘socially acceptable’
for men (but not women) to have mistresses and to frequent brothels
for purposes of sexual variety.

Below are two reads by anthropologists. The first traces the evolutions
of the Love Organizations – and speculates about changes yet to come.

The second is a study of a separate and distinct culture/society where
an Intimate Best Friends Love Organization is typical.

FREE READ - A paper by an anthropologist who is also a Catholic priest and professor. A non-theological orientation.

Summary - The paper addresses the historical basis for relationship forms with related mortality rates through the centuries. Looks at new patterns of relationships that are currently forming and suggests that ‘marriage’ as we have known it in recent times (one-on-one mutually exclusive partnerships) may not remain the dominant proscribed relationship form (Love Organization) of the future.

An interesting and informative read for those interested in why our current relationships are in such tumult (broken marriages – serial romances – cheating).

In societies that are female dominant (where women run the show) – Love Organizations are ‘More Than Just One’ – and jealousy becomes dysfunctional for both men and women. Children have multiple ‘fathers’.
